Phil Mansfield

Phil is a sportsperson, brought up playing different sports.

“Not a day went by as a kid where I wasn’t playing sport or going to training, whether there was an organised club or representative session it didn’t matter I was throwing a ball, running, lifting anything I could do, preferably competitively”.

Phil studies the elements of sport passionately and equally, his unique ability to see the whole athlete and the athletic road map and development sets him part from most other coaches. Phil has coached at worldchampinships across 5 different sports.

“Training has been my 9-5 since I was 16, I started coaching at 17 and do not know any other life, if I wasn’t playing or training myself, I was coaching kids, It didn’t matter as long as I was engaged in sport.

“Understanding sport” drives his passion for, having played some top level sport the natural progression after 3 career ending injuries was to begin coaching and helping others.

“You find IT nerds or maths boffs, I was always a sports nerd, I want to know how they ran faster, why they were injured, what are the reasons behind the decisions they make in pressure situations”

James Jowsey Co-Founder RedPill Training

James or ‘Jowsey’ as he is referred to by everyone bar his Mum and wife has lived his life in sport.

Jowsey played football throughout his childhood and realised his dream when he became a professional goal keeper for Manchester United. During his time as a professional athlete he developed an interest in training & nutrition. When his football career came to an end he became a personal trainer. Jowsey continues to hold genuine passion and interest in the components of an athlete's life.

“After finishing playing, I tried to find sports to replace football which ranged from CrossFit to MMA but nothing really created the same buzz in me. It was coaching that became my new competition. Developing as a coach has been my soul focus for the last 10 years.

When starting to coach in the fitness industry 13 years ago, I instantly became fascinated with movement. I was obsessed with people having the correct technique and couldn’t understand why some people just couldn’t execute the technique. I knew it wasn’t because they didn’t understand, I knew my skill set had to change to be able to help them. Thankfully, I met Phil Mansfield and the rest is history. Since that point I have had the pleasure of working with a broad spectrum of people with different goals ranging from serious injury to general health and also, professional athletes from numerous sports including football, rugby union, road cycling, CrossFit and MMA. It’s working with athletes and turning them in to the best version of themselves that is my new sport.

I look back on my football career and what so nearly was, the fact of the matter is I wasn’t good enough, but I did everything I felt I could to make it. I looked after myself as an athlete and have no regrets about that time, just fond memories. It’s this opportunity I want to pass on to other athletes. Go all in, commit to the process and have no regrets. If you aren’t good enough then, that is just meant to be that way. You can look yourself in mirror and be proud of yourself and an inspiration to your children. As your coach, I am all in. Come and join me."

Ashley Grossmann

A London based coach with a methodical and considered style. He believes every single part of a programme should have a specific purpose related to the goals of the athlete. He has an analytical brain and is very data driven to ensure progression, stemming from his science and management-consulting background. Through Red Pill training he has built on his fascination with biomechanics and strives to improve his athletes’ movement patterns to add kilos to the bar and squeeze out every bit of their potential possible.

Cyril Grechi

Cyril was born in Perpignan, France and grew up playing a range of sports recreationally and tennis to a national level, earning his tennis coaching certification at just 14 years old. He has always enjoyed sharing his passions with others, and utilising his own learning and knowledge to help other people achieve their goals. More recently Cyril has been participating in the sport of CrossFit and has left behind a successful career in Finance to pursue coaching work, which is more in line with his own values and interests. His background in tennis, a highly specialised, skill-based sport, is a key driver for his coaching philosophy in CrossFit; to prioritise technical proficiency and quality of movement to optimise performance and longevity. As a coach Cyril is renowned for his keen eye and attention to detail. He is committed to educating and communicating with the athletes he works with, believing that each individual’s understanding of their training and lifestyle is crucial to their own athletic development and achievements.

Paul Woolls

I am owner and head coach at CrossFit Worcestershire. I have been Coaching for 8 years with a continuous thirst for knowledge and success and have ended up being part of one of the best group of experts I’ve witnessed. My Philosophy as a coach is to keep things as simple as possible with perseverance, hard work, enjoyment, smart training and when it comes to game day the ferocity, concentration, aggression and will to win at whatever sport you choose and let the hard work pay off. My past 2 years has been not to over coach but to look at why you are missing a certain lift or having that pain in your knee or not bringing your A game to competition day, I have learnt that it is not a simple analysis and understanding you and your performance is a detailed and complex topic that requires a dedicated and organized coach. My job therefore is to understand your complexity. Your job is to work hard and enjoy the simplicity of a well formed training system.

Jemma Chambers 

I knew from the age of 16 that I wanted to be a physiotherapist. In terms of schooling from then on was geared towards getting the right A Levels, then degree and then finding my way into the career that I had decided 15 years ago. I've always enjoyed asking answering the questions how and why things work. Ive always been interested in how the body works from how we can run faster to how we work on a cellular level. Combine this with an interest in fitness and health and I became a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with a special interest in biomechanics. I work part of my life in the the NHS as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner. 

The biggest passion I have is working with athletes, people who enjoy training, people that would like to start training or people just with an interest in moving for their health! This can be rehabbing back from injuries or ensuring that we work together to prevent injuries. I've worked with broad spectrum of sports including horse riders, CrossFit athletes, runners, triathletes, rowers, dancers to people that would like to walk 0.5 mile without knee pain. 

One of the biggest light bulb moments was after a 4am drive up to Manchester, to attend to attend a Red Pill course, I met James and Phil, opening up new ideas and a more complete answer to my perpetual 'how?

Troels Vinther

Troels has been a professional cyclist for over 10 years and has Studied and coached along side Phil Mansfield for the last 5 years. 

He has won international races as both a rider and coach, Troels is still a professional biker with Pro-Conti team Riwal alongside working as head cycling coach for Mansfied Sports Institute. 

A master tactician on the bike Troels passes on knowledge to athletes he coaches with passion. 

With a focus on details he enjoys working on the athletes road map and planning each season in infinite detail. His programs are innovative and at the cutting edge of endurance science.

Gemmen et tons af erfaring, hjælper jeg atleterne taktiks, teknisk og mentalt. Elsker at planlægge deres sæson, og går gerne den ekstra mile for at de peaker på det helt rette tidspunk. Leder altid efter nye innovative måder at blive bedre på, og tester dem selv af.
